Asa did what was good and right,
He broke the altars, purged the heights.
He sought the LORD, obeyed His law,
And all the land stood still in awe.
He cried, “O LORD, none else can save,”

The eyes of God still search today.

The land had rest and walls were strong,
For Asa walked in truth so long.
The LORD gave peace, no sword was drawn,
No battle came, just quiet dawn.
For as he sought, the LORD gave rest,

But when the king of Israel came,
He sought not God but man's acclaim.
He sent to Syria gold and fear,
And bought an end the LORD made clear.
“Because you leaned on man, not Me,”

He raged against the prophet's word,
And shut his ears to what he heard.
His feet grew sore, yet still no plea,
He sought physicians, but not God.
He slept with kings, but not in peace,
